The Scholars Program is a distinction awarded to junior golfers of The First Tee who excel in academics, leadership, character development, and chapter and community involvement. Since 2003, more than $1 million in college scholarships have been awarded to teen participants of The First Tee.

2015 Class

Congratulations to the 113 junior golfers designated to The First Tee Scholars – Class of 2015. Among the recipients is Roberto Arguello – an ACE Level participant from The First Tee of Greater Austin who will attend Stanford beginning in Fall 2015. Congrats Roberto!

Application Process for Junior Golfers

Applications are accepted once per year from seniors in high school who meet the minimum requirements.They are scored by an independent committee with representation from the following areas: Post-secondary educational consultant, high school guidance counselor, philanthropists, USGA executive committee member, educator, chapter board member, and chapter executive director.

Application & Instructions for 2016

  1. Download this printable, blank application. (This is only to help you gather the information you need to complete the required electronic documents. DO NOT send documents to The First Tee home office via regular mail.)
  2. Complete the school and community activities chart, two essays and online application.
    • School and community activities chart: choose activities that showcase your commitment, dedication and leadership skills as space is limited.
    • Online application: includes the five forms that must be signed electronically by the applicant AND a parent or guardian.
    • Essays: type your essays in a Word or other program and copy and paste into the form. Pay attention to the 300 word limit.
  3. High school transcript (unofficial is fine) – Either mailed directly from your school or scanned and           emailed.
  4. Copies of your official test scores – Print from test service website, scan and email.
  5. Chapter Participation Survey – Chapter staff must complete this form.

 

The First Tee of Greater Austin submission deadline – January 4th, 2016. The national deadline is January 9th, 2016, though the Austin chapter helps to review submission materials to best ensure the success of applicants.
