As part of The First Tee's mission to impact children on and off the golf course this program rewards students for their success in school.

The First Tee of Greater Austin recently hosted an event for Big Brothers Big Sisters at HPGC. 20 “Bigs” came out with their “Littles” for an afternoon to learn more about The First Tee’s Life Skills.

A mentor appreciation breakfast and golf scramble was held on August 25th at HPGC to thank the mentors who graciously gave their time and talents as assistant coaches over the past year.

I must say the First Tee has certainly accomplished its goal "to impact the lives of young people by providing educational programs that build character, instill life-enhancing values and promote healthy choices through the game of golf."

“Harvey Penick is a great course; you can get in a round in 1 ½ to 2 hours”, says HPGC member Ross Epstein, “…it’s a well maintained and challenging course that gives you a chance on every hole to get a great score”!

This month, we have the pleasure of introducing you to two members of The First Tee of Greater Austin, sisters Jasmine and Bailey, and consider ourselves very lucky to have their beautiful smiles grace the program!

Sunny Alexander is a fan! A fan of the Lady Longhorns basketball team, and a fan of the work that Cyndi Hernandez, our Program Coordinator, does with Austin’s youth.

Susan DuBeau wants us to know that you don’t need to be an expert golfer to volunteer at The First Tee of Greater Austin – she only took up golf four years ago herself, at the age of 66!

You may recognize the gentleman in the photo as a First Tee mentor and volunteer, but you may not know that Michael McMahan is also the president of The First Tee of Greater Austin’s Board of Directors and of its Executive Committee.

For those of you who have not yet met him, please come by and introduce yourself to our Program Coordinator, Jordan Jones, responsible for implementing and growing our youth development programming at The First Tee of Greater Austin.
