Dear First Tee Supporter,

Please excuse the previous email as several links were disconnected due to technical issues with our provider.  We have corrected and are resending with updated links to the full stories.  We hope you enjoy them, and look forward to seeing you Saturday at the Dennis Walters Golf Show!

Great things are happening as our staff and programming curriculum continue to grow in 2011.  We have been very busy planning Fall classes in multiple locations, and are looking forward to touching even more kids in our community with our 9 Core Values and 9 Healthy Habits programs.

We are also very pleased to present the nationally renowned Dennis Walters Precision Golf Show with Super Dog Bucky, as well as a "Golf Bazaar" this Saturday, August 13th from 8am -12pm at the Harvey Penick Golf Campus. The "Golf Bazaar" will feature pre-owned brand name golf products, as well as club fittings, and Dr. Katerina Sheffield.  The golf show begins at 10am, and is a FREE event for the community.  Be sure to bring the kids as they'll be inspired and amazed.
Volunteers are needed to help with the event, so please register online if you're interested in participating.

Following is a snapshot of recent developments on Campus -- we hope you'll enjoy reading about them.  We continue to add special events, volunteer opportunities and sponsorship programs to provide you with a range of ways to get involved and positively effect the lives of kids in our community.  Just $500 funds a full year of programming for one child.  Our goal is to raise $100k by year-end to help us touch even more kids in 2012.  With your support, we can get there!

And lastly, please be sure to visit our website regularly, connect with us on Facebook, and follow us on Twitter to keep up-to-date on recent developments -- good things are happening regularly!

Thank you for your continued support, and we look forward to seeing you on the Harvey Penick Golf Campus soon.  Come out for a quick round of golf and support The First Tee of Greater Austin.

Warm Regards,

Vicki Woodcock, LPGA/PGA
Chief Operating Officer

Mentor Hightlight: Dwight Shipp
This summer marks Dwight Schipp's third year as a First Tee mentor, and hopefully just the beginning of a long relationship!  Dwight retired in 2007 from a 30-year career in telecommunications and, far too energetic to stay home, researched organizations he admired that might use his help.  His research led him to the First Tee of Greater Austin, and after visiting, he signed up for training to help teach classes in golf and life skills. Just finishing his fourth camp this summer, David also attends our after-school programs and plans to continue this Fall as well. Needless to say, he is on his way to becoming an excellent golfer, and David says he has learned and uses the 9 Core Values, S.T.A.R. (Stop, Think, Anticipate, Respond) and the 4 Rs (Replay, Relax, Ready, Redo).  Read more>>

Ramesh_135
Harvey Penick Golf Campus Member Highlight
Austin-area residents in the know about this terrific facility use HPGC frequently to practice their game, as well as play full rounds.  Ramesh Radhakrishnan, an engineer with Dell, plays weekly as one of our Par members, which allows him unlimited play on the course. When asked how membership at Harvey Penick has helped his game, Ramesh says, "...it's a great facility for practice and improving my game. I play more golf due to my membership at HPGC, as it is easy to finish a round in under two hours.  I use the Par 3 course as well when I am short on time.... the membership rates make it worthwhile...".  Read More>>
