Our Mission
The mission statement of The First Tee of Greater Austin is to impact the lives of young people by providing learning facilities and educational programs that promote character development and life-enhancing values through the game of golf.
At The First Tee of Greater Austin, we believe the game of golf provides a context which, when combined with well trained coaches and mentors, maximizes the development of life skills and positive values for Austin’s young people.
Our life skills program teaches interpersonal skills, goal setting, self-management, resistance skills and mentoring. It uses the game of golf as a teaching vehicle because it’s a great sport for mentoring, it’s a sport for life and golf has inherent life skill values like integrity, sportsmanship, courtesy, confidence, honesty, perseverance, judgment, responsibility and respect.
